The Good News magazine -- A Magazine of Understanding
The Good News reader update April 1, 2004 - Letter from the publisher of The Good News.

Dear Friend,

Criticism of Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ , often reflects widespread misunderstandings about the controversial figure of Jesus Christ. To help dispel those misunderstandings and significant myths about Jesus Christ and His life, the United Church of God has released a free 132-page booklet, Jesus Christ: The Real Story . It describes the true, yet little-understood story about Christ and His surprising message that few comprehend today.

Booklet -- Jesus Christ: The Real StoryThe booklet illustrates how Jesus Christ and His original followers were maligned, discredited and persecuted. Even though the same is true today, very few people understand why. The booklet asks and answers such questions as: Who was Jesus Christ? Where did He come from? What did He teach? Was He God in the flesh? Was He only a man? Why did He die? What was the real message He brought? You are welcome to request a free copy of this new booklet at www.ucg.org/realstory or by writing to P.O. Box 541069 , Cincinnati , Ohio , 45254-1069 .

Web site of the United Church of GodAlso, the United Church of God Web site ( www.ucg.org ) set a new milestone in January and February with a record number of Web site visitors. Each month, over 180,000 visitors browsed through the Church's Web site, visiting on average four Web pages per visitor. This number represents both new and returning visitors to the Web site. On March 26, 2004, we had almost 10,000 visitors in one day. This is the most visits the Church's Web site has received in a single day. If this trend of daily visitors continues, then possibly some 225,000 visitors will access the site for the month of March.

Finally, we recently conducted an Internet advertising campaign through Ampere Media and myfree.com. This effort proved to be a great success. From December 2003 through March 8, 2004 , 42,600 new subscribers to The Good News magazine were added to our files-all at a cost of just 94 cents each. During the upcoming 2004-2005 fiscal year we intend to do more of this type of Internet advertising.

Thanks for your continuing interest in The Good News magazine. Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can be or further service to you!

Sincerely,
