Is humanity in mortal danger?
Are we nearing the end of the world? What is behind the
gathering political, military and religious storm clouds
now on the horizon? What do these things mean? Is Armageddon
imminent? Is there a way to know?
Numerous biblical prophecies
leave no doubt that increasingly cataclysmic events will
strike this world before the end of the age. Jesus Christ
Himself warned of a future time so horrendous that literally
no one would survive "unless
those days were shortened" (Matthew 24:22). Did He have
our time in mind?
Christ said that the vast majority of people
will be completely taken by surprise. Indeed, they will be
stunned by what is coming and traumatized by what they will
be forced to endure. He cautioned His followers in Luke 21:35: "For
it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on
the face of the whole earth." As alarming
conditions develop and threaten, most people will not be
spiritually alert. Will you be one of them? Isn't it
time you learned more about biblically prophesied trends
and events? You simply can't afford to be caught short!

Time is swiftly running out for this world. All people everywhere
need to be awakened from spiritual slumber! That is why the
United Church of God, publisher of The Good
News magazine, is striving mightily to reach as many
as possible with the good news of Jesus Christ's return
to save this world from itself. As we begin our new fiscal
year July 1, our overall goals remain to preach the gospel
to the world and to care for the people God calls.
We will
continue evaluating the effectiveness of our media efforts
and will constantly seek new ways to reach people "where
they are"—especially the younger generation.
This goal involves the editorial approach to all of our publications.
Also, TV and the Internet are converging. The second generation
of the Internet is right around the corner. We are eagerly
preparing plans for a new media center to meet this coming
challenge.
