Dear Friend,
As a new calendar year begins, we want to express our thanks
for your continuing interest in The Good News magazine
and the work of the United Church of God, an International
Association.
You might be interested to know that the five language
editions of The Good News (English, French, German,
Italian and Spanish) are now going into 178 countries and
territories around the world, from Albania to Zimbabwe, from
Chile to China.
The January/February issue is being distributed
to about 400,000 English readers, and about 24,000 in the
other languages. (If you would like to get an advance peek,
you can see it on the Web at www.gnmagazine.org.
Articles include: " You
Can Win the War Against the Family," "Successful
Parenting: What Makes It Work?," "Is
the United States Still a Moral Nation?," " Major
Challenges Confront President Bush's Second Term," " When
Do I Get a Break?" and "The
New Intolerance."
Along with the magazine, we also produce the Good News radio
program. On January 2 the Good News radio program
begins broadcasting on XM Satellite Radio. XM covers the
entire United States and parts of Canada and Mexico through
two satellites positioned over the east and west coasts.
In between are hundreds of translators that the company claims
provide seamless coverage for its more than 120 channels.
XM Satellite Radio Inc. is one of two FCC licensees to
deliver satellite radio programming. It is targeted to the
nation's 200 million plus automobile and truck drivers as
well as home radio users. XM, which requires $9.99 monthly
subscription, has over 3 million subscribers. For each subscriber,
XM believes there are two to three listeners.
Our radio program, hosted by Gary Petty, will air every
Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time on Salem Communication's
XM Family
Talk 170 station. It will immediately follow Dr.
James Dobson's Focus on the Family Theatre.
In a recent survey, 98 percent of XM Family Talk subscribers
are in the 35 to 54 age range. You can find out more about Good
News radio and even listen to programs on our Web site
at www.gnmagazine.org/radio.
Thank you again for your ongoing interest and support.
If you would like to learn more about the United Church of
God and its work, you are welcome to read our booklet This
