As a new calendar year begins, we want to express our thanks for your continuing interest in The Good News magazine and the work of the United Church of God, an International Association.

You might be interested to know that the five language editions of The Good News (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish) are now going into 178 countries and territories around the world, from Albania to Zimbabwe, from Chile to China.

The January/February issue is being distributed to about 400,000 English readers, and about 24,000 in the other languages. (If you would like to get an advance peek, you can see it on the Web at www.gnmagazine.org. Articles include: " You Can Win the War Against the Family," "Successful Parenting: What Makes It Work?," "Is the United States Still a Moral Nation?," " Major Challenges Confront President Bush's Second Term," " When Do I Get a Break?" and "The New Intolerance."

Along with the magazine, we also produce the Good News radio program. On January 2 the Good News radio program begins broadcasting on XM Satellite Radio. XM covers the entire United States and parts of Canada and Mexico through two satellites positioned over the east and west coasts. In between are hundreds of translators that the company claims provide seamless coverage for its more than 120 channels.

XM Satellite Radio Inc. is one of two FCC licensees to deliver satellite radio programming. It is targeted to the nation's 200 million plus automobile and truck drivers as well as home radio users. XM, which requires $9.99 monthly subscription, has over 3 million subscribers. For each subscriber, XM believes there are two to three listeners.

Our radio program, hosted by Gary Petty, will air every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time on Salem Communication's XM Family Talk 170 station. It will immediately follow Dr. James Dobson's Focus on the Family Theatre. In a recent survey, 98 percent of XM Family Talk subscribers are in the 35 to 54 age range.
