Dear Readers,
What a hectic, nerve-jangling couple of months we have
been witnessing! The monumental presidential election has
almost been outshined by the stunning economic crisis that
has the experts and common man alike wondering where this
is ultimately heading.
A lot of people are waking up to the fact that we were
seduced by the ultimate "buy now, pay later!" approach
to economics, and that the good times we've been enjoying
have a high price tag!
For years articles in The Good News have
been ringing the warning bell about the coming economic
disaster, and now it's here. If you go to our Web
site www.gnmagazine.org and
type into the search box the word "economy," you
will see a long list of past articles where we have continually
predicted the events we are now seeing.
We're not brilliant; we're not economists;
world leaders aren't calling our office asking for
advice. We simply looked at the Bible, saw what God says,
compared the historical records and drew conclusions based
on understanding human nature and the laws of cause and
effect.
The critics are right when they tell us, "Well, that's
not good news!" But they're also missing the
point—good news does lie ahead, but only
with God's intervening in world affairs through Christ's
returning soon to this earth to establish His government
and Kingdom! And further good news is that God has a way
of life for us to live now. You and I can't
change the world economy, but we can change our
lives to realign with God's intent, and that will
insure blessings and security in the future!
Someone asked me recently, "Is the economic crisis
the beginning of the end for the United States?" I
responded, "No. The beginning of the end began a long
time ago! This is certainly another warning, though, another 'shot
across the bow' telling the United States—and
the entire world, for that matter—that we cannot continue
to run our lives based on greed, deficit spending, war and
fighting, etc., without paying the price." Will we
learn that lesson? It's the economy now. What prices
will we have to pay in the future for our moral and spiritual
sins?
While good news lies in the future, we would be indeed
blind fools to not see bad news on the near horizon if we
continue to ignore God and choose paths of our own devising!
I hope, dear readers, that you are carefully and soberly
watching the world events around us, as Jesus Christ told
us to do. I urge you to not get caught up in the falsehoods
of this world—false values, false senses of security,
false teachings of any kind. There are plenty of false teachings
about the Bible itself, but when you open it up and read
for yourself what God really has to say, you will find that
His Word is tried and true, and it has stood the test of
time!

Before closing I want to point out that on Nov. 10 we initiated
a brand-new aspect of our work, a daily video commentary
on world news and trends. You've probably seen it
already on www.gnmagazine.org (and
it's also posted daily on YouTube), but if not, take
a look and let us know what you think. Let your friends
and family know about it as well. It only takes two to four
minutes a day to get a different point of view, a biblical
perspective on what's happening in our world!
Until next time, may God be with you,
