A sign hanging on the wall of a small business read:  "If you don't believe the dead come back to life you've never been here at quitting time."

Unfortunately, many employers feel this way about their employees.  A survey of employers showed three traits they are looking for in a good employee.  Developing these traits will help you keep your job.

Dependability.  Employees who show up on time, be where they should be, and finish what they start, have a great advantage in keeping a job at layoff time.

Responsibility.  Employers want employees who will simply do the work assigned to them in the allotted time given to do it.

Enthusiasm.  Employers want a person who approaches even the most menial tasks with a positive, "can do" attitude.

Be diligent in being on time, completing the job and being enthusiastic and you will be in the best position to keep your job.  Solomon wrote, "The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor" (Proverbs 12:24).
