Many religious people embrace the idea of loving others as themselves but remain blissfully unaware of how the Bible defines love. As a result, they do not understand the necessity of putting into practice the biblical principles that determine the success or failure of their relationships.

Video Transcript

I've been thinking about micro-blogging lately. Do you know what that is? Think Twitter. There's a big hubbub going on in the social media world right now between Ashton Kutcher taking on the entire CNN network to see who could be the first to get a million followers. Kutcher won. I looked into what he was tweeting and it was fairly mundane stuff, like daily routine activities we all do—get up, go here, go there, go to bed.

The thing about Twitter is that you have to say what you want in 140 characters or less—not much leeway to be profound! Now, I've been a pastor for many years. I'm used to having a comparatively longer amount of time to say what I need to say to a captive audience once a week. And the Bible has lots of words, and there's a lot to discuss.  What could I possibly do with something like Twitter—in 140 characters or less?

Hmmmm….

Okay, I'll let you in on a secret. God is a master at communication. He has given me my first ten tweets—and they are profound! Here they are.

1. You shall have no other God's before me.
2. You shall not bow down to idols.
3. You shall not take God's name in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
5. Honor your mother and your father.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit sexual immorality.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not lie to one another.
10. You shall not covet.

Isn't it poetic? If you can just focus on these ten things, each 140 characters or less, and master them, you'll demonstrate your love to God and everyone else. Now, that's profound!

How about you? Do you have a Bible Tweet you could share?
